Family member Robert Beaton says :
In April 2009 our son Kyle was diagnosed with Fragile X. At the time neither my wife or myself had any idea what Fragile X Syndrome was. Since that time we know that fragile X is a genetically inherited condition causing varying degrees of learning disability and developmental delay. It affects both boys and girls and is often accompanied by autistic like behavioural traits.
Our challenge was to not only raise money for the Fragile X Society, but also to raise awareness of Fragile X.
We arranged 2 cycle events. The first for the more competitive riders (approximately 11 miles long, with a choice of 1 -3 circuits), and the second for families and those who wanted to just have a bit of fun, but at the same time raise money for a good cause.
There was a marvellous BBQ for all after the event, with an admission fee of £3.00 per person (under 5's free) to cover the cost of a Hamburger and a Hotdog, salad & drink. All children were given a goody bag for taking part.
Isklar water generously supplied bottles of water for all persons taking part in the ride.

Marathon Runner EXTRAORDINAIRE!
8 Marathons in 12 Months (Challenge 2010)
When Anthony Clark's nephew and godson was diagnosed with fragile X in February 2009 Anthony wanted to do something to show his support --- and decided that he would set himself the challenge of completing 123.4 miles in 6 months in competitve races to raise awareness of fragile X and to raise funds for the Society.......
That was last year - Anthony's magnificant efforts were very well rewarded --- and now for 2010! Here's what Anthony has in mind next:
This challenge has 2 goals. Firstly, to raise money and awareness of Fragile X and The Fragile X Society and also for me to improve my marathon performance and time.
Completing Marathon de Paris 2009 in less than 3 hours, entitles me to a 'good for age' place and automatic entry to all official marathons including the Virgin London Marathon & Real-Berlin Marathon.
My Challenge 2010 'target time' for 26.2 miles is sub 02:50:00. This will be working towards a future time of sub 02:45:00, the time required for the ultimate Championship entry place.
Included in this challenge I am taking place in Votwo's signature endurance running event the Jurassic Coast Challenge along the Dorset coast path. A 26.2 mile marathon each day for 3 days running, jogging, walking or crawling from Lyme Regis to Poole along beautiful but brutal coastal terrain. Heed the warning: The cowardly won't start and the weak won't finish.
Please support Anthony, very little will do, and of course we shall all be very grateful if you can sponsor him in a big way! - there is a lot more information and ways in whcih to sponsor him on his website at http://www.fragilerunner.com/
