Last month we received a lovely story from one of our members Michael, who was taking part in The Great North run, to raise awareness and fundraise for the Fragile X Society.
Michael has now completed the race in a running time of 2:29, which is an amazing achievement. We are extremely proud and thank you Michael for your support.

My name is Michael and I have Fragile X Syndrome. I was adopted and when I was three years old I was diagnosed. I have found it hard at times as some things I find quite difficult to do and I have had some really difficult situations to work through. My mum and dad have helped me a lot to live independently and now I live in my own flat, I drive my own car and have a fabulous dog called Woody who loves being with me and I love being with him.
I love running and have entered many races and have medals and certificates around them. I have done the Great North Run. The Great South Run, The Amsterdam Marathon, The Blaydon Races to name a few. This year 2024 I am going to run for the Fragile X Society as I want to raise money to help children and young people and adults just like me.
