A couple of weeks ago Pete Richardson, Managing Director, was privileged to be able to deliver a presentation on Fragile X to the Leeds University Faculty of Biomedical Sciences.
Leeds University are a leading faculty within the life sciences field, in terms of their research power, subject diversity and interdisciplinarity (for example through our contributions to the internationally renowned Astbury Centre, medical research and emerging Global Food and Environment Institute.)
The seminar had excellent attendance, with more than eighty students and academics present, providing a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of Fragile X among a new generation of researchers.
Pete was very fortunate to be supported by Erin Williams (pictured here) who did a superb job in representing the Fragile X Community and sharing with the audience an articulate and informed, lived-experience perspective. Erin has an uncle with Fragile X and is the granddaughter of our long-standing trustee Marie Williams.
The blend of scientific and family perspectives was highly effective on the day. Thank you, Erin, for your invaluable contribution and for participating in the Cardiff half marathon on behalf of the Fragile X Society.
